Warm-Up

Definition:

The first 5-7 minute chunk of a period of instruction that provides structure and makes connections to the learning for that day.

Best Practice

  • All students contribute to show understanding and learning,
  • Explicitly connects to the learning goal(s) and reinforces the relevance of the learning
  • Purposefully incorporates other principles of instruction
  • Links to prior learning and/or previews key concepts/vocab with a focus on various levels of Cognitive Growth Targets
