Focus on Developing Relationships: Emphasize the importance of building strong relationships between students, teachers, and peers as a foundation for social and emotional growth
Incorporate Research-Based Practices: Use evidence-based strategies related to the brain-state model, conflict resolution, self-regulation, and mindfulness to support students’ emotional well-being
Student Voice: Create opportunities for all students to have their voices heard and contribute to the SEL process
Gradual Progression: Start with teacher-directed activities and gradually shift towards student-led or initiated processes throughout the school year
